About Laura Pearce Ltd.
Founded in Atlanta in 1989, Laura Pearce Ltd. (LPL) has been recognized by Veranda as one of the best independent jewelry shops in the United States and by Atlanta Magazine as one of Atlanta's 50 Best Shops. LPL is known for exceptional taste, craftsmanship, personal service, and enduring client relationships. For more than three decades, LPL has served clients from the same Atlanta location, establishing an enduring and highly regarded presence in the community. LPL offers carefully selected designer and private label jewelry, a proprietary LPL collection, and a highly regarded custom-design practice. Our warm, collaborative environment pairs the standards of a premier jeweler with the personal experience of an independent, founder-led business.
The Opportunity
LPL is seeking an experienced jewelry professional to help manage and grow its custom-design practice. The successful candidate will work directly with Laura in an immersive, apprenticeship-style development period, learning the design judgment, quality standards, and client approach that distinguish LPL. The role is intended to develop into leadership of the custom-design function as capability and trust are established.
What You Will Do
• Guide clients from initial idea through completion, whether creating a piece from scratch or reimagining family heirlooms, diamonds, and gemstones.
• Listen closely, interpret personal stories and preferences, and translate them into clear design direction, sketches, layouts, and iterative client presentations.
• Serve as the central liaison among clients, LPL’s bench jeweler, stone and mounting suppliers, and other manufacturing partners.
• Source gemstones, diamonds, mountings, and related components consistent with LPL’s standards for quality, taste, value, and craftsmanship.
• Coordinate estimates, approvals, design revisions, production milestones, delivery dates, and follow-up to ensure accurate and timely execution.
• Maintain complete custom-project records in Airtable, including photographs, specifications, sketches, pricing, status, and communications.
• Provide thoughtful feedback on bench-jeweler sketches, CAD concepts, and AI-assisted renderings before presenting work to clients.
• Exercise exceptional care, discretion, and accountability when handling valuable jewelry, loose stones, and irreplaceable heirlooms.
What We Are Looking For
• Meaningful professional experience in fine jewelry; direct custom-design, bridal, gemstone, or luxury-client experience strongly preferred.
• Graduate Gemologist (GIA) credential highly preferred, or comparable gemological knowledge and industry experience.
• A rare combination of creativity, refined taste, technical curiosity, meticulous organization, and sound judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to read clients, earn trust, and explain design choices clearly.
• Strong follow-through and comfort managing many high-value, detail-intensive projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with common business technology; experience with Airtable, CAD/design workflows, or jewelry systems is helpful but can be learned.
